| This paper researched the energy characteristic of hydro turbine, especially expounded the energy flow method on the basis of reviewing the existing several evaluation methods. Utilizing the energy flow method ,the author set up a suit of economic performance evaluation system for hydroelectric generating units, which was used by VB 6.0 program tool and SQL SERVER 2000 database .The system can evaluate the performance of units operation and maintenance form the efficiency results which were calculated form ideal reachable and operating state. The system also can evaluate the performance of units overhaul form the increment of hydro turbine efficiency which was calculated by before-overhauling and after-overhauling efficiency. This evaluation system is very practical and valuable to improve hydroelectric generating units'efficient and the level of maintenance.
