With the development of the hydropower undertaking of our country, increase of capacity of hydropower generating units and improvement of hydropower plant management, efficiency of hydropower generating units is regarded more widely. Many hydropower plants require monitoring the efficiency of hydropower generating units. In this paper, the problem of efficiency monitoring of hydropower generating units is researched and an apparatus for efficiency monitoring and dynamic test of hydropower generating units is designed.Base on efficiency test and load shedding test of water-turbine generator, the apparatus applies data collecting and processing technology and micro-processor technology. This apparatus can measure the output power of hydropower units, the flux of water-turbine generator, mechanical displacement of velocity adjuster and other on-line parameters of efficiency and dynamic test of units. And the system uses singlechip to calculate and process collected data, obtains the real time efficiency of the units and displays curves. The apparatus can make load shedding test directly when the test is needed. The researching and applying of this apparatus give hydropower plant a good resolvent for long-term and on line monitoring the efficiency of hydropower generating units. The apparatus is light and handy and easy operate, and has high-level intelligent, dependability and expansibility.The apparatus uses 80C196KB singlechip, and its periphery module include of analog signals data collecting, memorizer expanding, man-machine interface and other assistant circuit. The cost of hardware is low.
