The automobile industry is an important industrial projects which all nations cocern about. Electric cars research has become more and more hotter because of its own advantages. Meanwhile ,with the development and application of control-by-wire technology, more new design space will be applied . Then appling the control-by–wire technology to electric vehicle development will maximize both of their advantages .As the most important human-machine system of automobile, the man-machine interface should make its research and development match these new technologys .On the basis of the technology advantage of electric vehicle, this paper summarized the features of its human-machine interaface. And based on these interaction characteristics,the paper creativly introduces the multimodal interaction design idea to the research of electric vehicle human-machine-interface which is based on control-by-wire.While,introducing multimodal interaction to the complex hardware human-machine interface really needs a set of effective design process and methods. Then on one hand, the paper explored a set of design process and a workable guiding methods for multimodal interaction design which based on the the task- analysis, multimodal-selection and multimodal-integration; on the other hand ,according to the human-oriented design concept,the paper researched on and summarizsded the human characteristics during driving.More over ,we also exploited the natural operation property of users through observation experiments ,to guide the vehicals operating system human-machine interface design.Finally, using the set of process and method ,according to the human characteristics and natural operation property associated with the driving operation.,this paper accomplished a solution of human-machine interface design for the control-by-wire electric vehicles. The solution includes the multimodal interactive , human-machine layout, modeling and program evaluation method for reference.Through researching on multimodal interactive of the electric vehicle control-by–wire operation system , The paper aims to promot the application of multi-modal interactive design ,as well as new creative human-machine interface , and then improve the electric vehicle design and expand its development space, further more to promote the coordination of human, machine and systems .
