The electric control technology has been adopted in modern automobile, and its principles have become more and more sophisticated, which requires the people concerned to be well trained. In the process of theoretical teaching and control system development, the use of objects could cause energy waste and environmental pollution as well. And the practical automobile and engine may bring much inconvenience in teaching. Therefore the teaching platform based on the real time simulation technology can help to solve these difficulties effectively. This dissertation focused on the construction and simulation of automotive engine, which includes initial design of teaching platform and its main functions and composition. The general function of engine model was formed according to the theory and performance of electrical engine. The model can also be connected with ECU to become a virtual electric-controlled engine to simulate its main control process, working process of sensors and the malfunctions etc. Meanwhile it can be linked with load module to simulate engine performance test. The engine model was constructed with MATLAB/SIMULINK software on the basis of empirical formula, experimental data and working process of related mechanism. The model was completed with the addition of sensor module, trouble setting module, idle speed control module and engine performance module. And the whole vehicle model was formed to connect to engine model to apply load. Furthermore, the model fuel consumption of 100 km can realize different parameter setting of model for a certain type engine and whole vehicle. The practical electronic controlled engine was tested and the results were compared and analyzed to testify the model in the light of basic principles and laws. The results show that the model can benefit the teaching as well as the initial development of ECU.
