Vernacular houses contain wealthy heritage of history culture, and they are important aspects of continuity of national culture. The Chinese vernacular houses is unique in the world, and a wonderful work of the architectures in the world. but with Chinese modernization process of development, the intrusion of foreign architecture design ideas , and their own lack of innovation and development of Chinese architecture design make exploring the road rugged. The community of architecture design looks forward to the emergence of the Chinese architecture with ethnic and geographical characters. In the background in many cities, including Xi'an, do produce a series of architecture works that draw on traditional architecture forms at present.Xi'an had been a capital in 13 dynasties and has a long history of the buildings. Since the founding of new China, the city is more and more important. Especially after the reform and open, the city develops rapidly, but like other cities, Xi'an also faces with the problems of the loss of the city's characteristics and how to maintain the characteristics of urban.In Xi'an many architects try to explore the characteristic architecture from all aspects. In which the famous architect Zhang Jinqiu's "new style of Tang"-architecture gets a lot of recognition and praise. In Xi'an many public buildings belong to "new style of Tang"-architecture, and they are representative image of Xi'an. She sets an example for other architects to explore the architecture culture of the city. Some architecture works as the compliment and extension of "new style of Tang"-architecture have been getting creative inspirits from vernacular houses and Xi'an has also produced some architecture works that have spirits of traditional vernacular houses. This article study how the forms of traditional vernacular houses are applied. This article also discuses the factors of the control and influence of the application of the forms of traditional vernacular houses, and also sums up, reviews and analyses the creative ideas and approach. Finally this article analyses the significance of this kind of architecture to seek city feature andprotect ancient architecture culture and gives some thoughts and prospects to theirfuture.
