With our country's reform and opening up made progress and the goal that we will build a moderately prosperous society in all respects put in practice, Economic strength is increased substantially and people living standards are improved significantly, the transportation of people and goods is unparalleledly active, which makes the road construction and the road management hang behind the economy and society development evidently. The capacity of the society holding automobiles is increasing day by day, which mostly aggravates the traffic problems. Traffic problems have become an important factor restricting the development of our country economy and society. Therefore, the traffic problems have been more and more concentrated on by the people in the world. In recent years, the domestic and overseas experts and scholars have studied the traffic flow from various angles and have presented all kinds of traffic models in order to discover the traffic intrinsic character and principles for the anticipation, management and layout of traffic. In these models, cellular automata traffic flow model is widely applied because it not only conserves the nonlinear behaviors and other physical characteristics of traffic flow, but also it is operated in the computer easily and modified parameters neatly to simulate various effects of the real traffic conditions. In this dissertation, based on the existed traffic flow of cellular automata, we have studied on the traffic flow characteristic of the single lane and two lanes system. The dissertation consists of the followings: (1) Using the considering safety parameter and improved Nagel-Schredkenberg (NaSch ) traffic flow model on single-lane highway with open boundary conditions. Computer simulation results show the ability of this modeling paradigm to capture the most important feature of the traffic flow phenomena.(2) In real traffic, a different vehicle with limited velocity may perform different lane-changing behavior if its preceding vehicle is different. In this paper, we take the factor into account, and propose a new symmetric two-lane cellular NaSch and FI mixed model. By using computer numerical simulation, it is shown that slow car deeply affect the traffic flow, and look as if the vehicles having aggregating behavior.(3)Based on the second work of this dissertation, we even further studied on the two-lane traffic flow system with open boundary conditions. Studies show that the phenomenon of the lane density inversed is clear. All in the left boundary opening up, with the degree of the right boundary opening up, there has been a strange phenomenon of inversed density, as long as aggressive driving vehicle exists, the situation of the lane density aggregation appears completely different to cautious driving vehicle only existingFinally, we conclude our works and present the investigations and implications of traffic flow in the future.
