The horizontal refuse compactor is the key compaction equipment of MSW (municipal solid waste) transfer station, droved by the hydraulic system. It presses the waste and put it into transfer vehicles, so it increases the volume of transfer, improves the efficiency of transfer. But, structure is unreasonable, low reliability is common problem existence. This paper according to the practical work situation of horizontal refuse compactor analyzed and designed the hydraulic system. And the locking mechanism is optimization designed, redesigned and analyzed the pulling mechanism, finite element analyses are done to key components.According to working demands of the horizontal refuse compactor, used the Pro-E software to build the model, used ADAMS to kinematics simulation.According to the actual working demands of refuse compactor, designed the hydraulic system of every mechanism, calculated the key parameter of part component, made the hydraulic system reliable, and simple operation. Under normal working conditions, calculate the biggest force of locking hook and pulling hook.Built the parameterized model of locking mechanism, study all the design variables, find out the key variable which affect the performance of the mechanism gravely, and optimization designed the model, ascertained the best mechanism of the model, make the smallest locking cylinder press to have the biggest tight locking force. Calculated and built the model of optimization design.Used ANSYS to build the finite element model of key mechanism, and made the finite element analysis under different working conditions, gained the size and location of each deformation and stress, offered a basis to the improvement of horizontal refuse compactor. Based on the finite element analysis result, redesigned the key mechanism, the new analysis result showed the stiffness and intensity accord with request.After study the principle and demand of pulling mechanism, new design changed it into "two force pole" mechanism, improved the deformation and stress condition greatly, the analysis result showed new mechanism accord with the request.
