Vehicle transmission is an important and difficult problem in the research of whole car. The low efficiency, high costs, poor starting performance, small transmission efficiency problems and so on, are widely exist in vehicle automatic transmission system at present. According to the hydraulic automatic transmission, which is widely used nowadays, a new type of automatic transmission is designed and it is called Magnetic Particle Clutch Automatic Transmission (MAT). Magnetic particle clutch (MPC) is used in MAT, and its cost is lower compared to hydraulic torque converter, and its advantages are being fully utilized. MAT have greater market prospect.As an important component in MAT, the MPC whether can be used in the automobile is researched. The MPC dynamic model, which is based on the whole car model of MAT, is built in MATALB/Simulink. Based on the research of the control rule about MPC during vehicle starting shifting and stopping of MAT, the control strategies of MPC during vehicle starting, shifting and stopping are established after selecting out some control parameters, and then according to fuzzy control theory, the fuzzy controller about engagement of MPC during vehicle starting and shifting, using two different methods, are designed. The control model of MPC during vehicle starting, shifting and stopping are established in Simulink, of which the control of MPC and the shift behaviors of MAT are dynamitic coordinated. In the whole vehicle of MAT simulation model, the RS flip-flop of circuit is imitated to judge the state of vehicle movement.The whole car model of MAT is simulated offline in one cycle of urban conditions. Through the simulation, the condition of MPC used in the car is further researched, and the effectiveness and correctness of the whole car model and its control strategies are verified.
