At present, with the performance of electric market reform, it is great value for researching the load optimal dispatching of the power plant, improving the economic effect of the generator units, and strengthening the competitive power the of the electric industry. Based on the summary to a lot of literature, the studies for the load optimal dispatching are summarized, the quadratic function is selected to approach the characteristic curve of the coal consumption of one generator unit, and the optimal model with some restrictions is set up. Then the Multi-Agent Evolutionary Algorithm (MAEA) and the Genetic Algorithm which is used generally are compared in this paper, and MAEA is used onto solving the load optimal dispatching problem of the power plant with some improvements on the Algorithm for the first time. The simulation result of the example shows that MAEA for the load optimal dispatching problem is versatile and efficient.
