The paper research multiwavelets and its application in power quality detection.First, multiwavelets is introduced. The property of multiwavelets are researched, and its filter responses are gotten. Several pre-processing of multiwavelets are researched with multiwavelets to get its affects to multiwavelets' filter responses. Based on the conception of balanced multiwavelets, the balanced multiwavelets are selected as a pre-processing, and used to balance several multiwavelets. From the research of multiwavelets and its pre-processing, multiwavelets is selected in detecting power quality, mainly about voltage disturbances, such as sags, swells, interruptions, etc, and harmonics. MATLAB software is used to simulating, analyzing the power quality detection using multiwavelets.SOPC is adapted to designing the power quality detection system, which make the multiwavelets come true. The EP2C5(FPGA) of ALTERA Co. is selected as main chip and LPC2131(ARM7) is selected as auxiliary chip to design a power quality hardware system. The parts of the hardware system are introduced.The software of Quartus II, SOPC Builder and Nios II IDE are used to finished the software design of SOPC. In Quartus II, use VHDL language writing multiwavelets, and use SOPC Builder building soft kernel, the hardware design of SOPC is finished. In soft kernel, an IP kernel is designed and an instruction is added to improve the calculation ability of CPU. The software of soft kernel is designed in Nios II IDE by C language to finish its function. The software of LPC2131 is designed in ADS by C language. The block diagrams of software parts are introduced.The SOPC power quality detection system is used to in power nets. After making experiments on the system and its parts, the results shows it can work well.
