This paper describes the significance of turbocharged inter-cooling system for modern diesel engine. First of all, we focus on the important role of inter-cooler for turbocharging system, and introduce the development of it as a heat exchanger.The article introduces the development and status of CFD technology and it's application on diesel engine, Which describes the characteristics, application and theoretical basis of CFD technology in detail .The methods of using CFD technology to simulate cooling system for design, optimization on diesel engine and its practical significance is introduced also.According to the principles of one diesel engine's cooling system, we can determine the form and structure of cooler firstly. We use commercial CFD software named FLUENT to model,mesh,simulate and analysize this cooler. And use the traditional theory method of the Cooler design to verify the results from FLUENT simulation. Finally is the match test of the diesel engine and Turbocharged cooling system which consist of the cooler and GT4294 turbocharger.Comparing the results of traditional theory with simulation results, it proves that using FLUENT to simulate, design and optimize is reasonable. And the tests indicate that the cooler meets the request of this turbocharged diesel engine. We can draw a conclusion that the matching is successful. Using CFD technology to modeling, meshing and simulation and analysis for cooler provides a new method for the research of cooler.
