With the improvement of ship's automation, it brings forward higher requirement to management lever of engineer. Usage of training simulator for seaman training is the mandatory requirement of STCW78/95 Convention. Therefore, for the Maritime education and training institutions, it becomes to the focus of study to develop the training simulator applicable to the practice of maritime teaching.Marine crane is one of the typical equipment of the ship, and has the following characteristics: complex structure, higher fault rate, difficult to manage, abstract theoretical knowledge and difficult to understand. Research and development of marine crane training simulator can be used for the practice of teaching, so that students can quickly learn and master the principle of deck machinery, its control characteristics and analysis and processing capabilities of common faults.This paper mainly research on the ship's alternating current electrical crane, analyze and research the principle of the alternating current electrical crane, its control characteristics and common faults, design the main and control circuit of the training simulator, achieve the simulation on the operation process of crane. The ship's electric crane training simulator mainly comprises the following four parts: PC machine, S7-200CN PLC controller, the graphic simulation screen and the fault setup unit.Through human-computer interaction, the training simulator can achieve the simulated operation of various control functions in the operation process of ship's alternating current electrical crane. As the upper-end computer, the configuration (Version 6.5) monitoring software can achieve the dynamic monitoring on the training simulator system. And the S7-200CN PLC controller is taken as the lower-end computer to achieve the control on the training simulator system. The upper-end computer is connected to the lower-end computer through RS-485 communication cable. The graphic simulation screen simulates the control process of the crane on line, and has the fault setup unit with fault setup and check functions.Through the fault checking procedures of the system, trained personnel can carry out troubleshooting operation, and to students they can accumulate experiences related to troubleshootings, so as to lay a solid foundation for the future work onboard the ship. When used for professional skills training, the training simulator can improve the professional skills of marine engineers, and guarantee the safe operation of ships.
