Research On The Simulation And Optimization Of Container Terminals Production System

With the implement of the policy of economy system innovation and opening to the world, the trade between our country and other nations grows quickly, and the container throughput in terminal keeps increasing with high speed. Especially after China joined in the WTO, the container transport in our country faces great development opportunity and the throughput in each main container terminal keeps rising accordingly.Container Terminals Production System is one of the huge and complex service systems, which made of interactive and dynamic components, such as containers, ships, berths, yards, tracks, quay cranes and yard cranes, trucks, labors and communications. Because of the fast-developing global containerization, most of container ports are facing great challenges and chances.At the beginning of the paper, a literature review on the domestic and abroad researches of container terminal system and the computer simulation technology used in container terminals system in domestic and overseas. Secondly, it illustrates the basic theory of the queue system simulation in the second chapter. And analysis is done towards Container Terminals Production System in the following chapter. In Chapter 4, this paper gives a brief introduction of the modeling software—WITNESS and computer simulation models are set up , which can simulate the dynamic process. At last, according to the statistics analyzing of the simulation results from the container terminals' production system, some conclusions from the paper achieved also for the reference of the real operation of the container terminal.
