With the rapid development of the electrical power network, on-line monitoring becomes more and more important for each kind of electric devices, it can ensures equipment work safely and stably. The SF6 circuit breaker is widely used in power system; its security and reliable work ensures the equipment stable working and staff worker's health. Therefor, to developing an intelligent, digital and remote controlled monitoring system of sulfur hexafluoride gas is helpful for improving the security and reliability of SF6 circuit breaker.Because of the rapid development of technologies of computer, Internet and communications, embedded systems have been applied more and more widely. As an operating system, Linux is completely open its source code (subject to the GPL agreement). Linux has many merits: low costs, flexibility construction of its application environment and so on. These merits make Linux become more widely used in the monitoring system, the hand-hold equipment and other embedded domain application. As early as in 1987, the PC/104 embedded microcomputer appeared. With the latest 20 years development, the PC/104 technology already becomes mature and is widely applied in embedded domain.In the thesis, we study the sulfur hexafluoride monitor equipment on the present market firstly. And then, we propose one kind of monitor installment which is based on the embedded Linux system. The devices is a real-time embedded Linux system based on the PC/104, and it's in order to satisfy the synthesis online monitoring parameters, density of the sulfur hexafluoride switch house sulfur hexafluoride gas divulging and oxygen, with a high resolution, high sampling rate and rapid calculation request. The thesis summarizes features, applications and development status of embedded systems. It analysis the commonly used embedded system, then develops a monitoring system that fulfill the functions of acquisition of the raw data, A/D converters, controling and protection, which is based on PIC and its external interface circuits, and the function of main control computation and the remote operation, using PC/104 microprocessor and inline Linux operating system. How to carry out the entire equipment, and how to reduce the Linux core, and how to guidance and start core by using tool software such as Grub, BusyBox, etc, and how to realize the upper formation graph operation contact surface with MiniGUI, and how to make use of backstage database with MySQL, in a word, how to construct a complete embedded system is elaborated in this thesis. At last the thesis combines the test result of actual installment, and analyses the advantage and disadvantage of embedded Linux system when used in the automatic equipment, and then it prospects the application of embedded real-time Linux in the automatic equipment of power system.
