The line loss of distribution network is a comprehensive economy, technical index. It can not only reflect the structure of the distribution network and rationality of operation, but also reflect technology and management level of power Supply Corporation. The line loss of distribution network occupies sizable proportion of the entire network'losses. By calculating the line loss of distribution network, we can find out the weak aspects in operation and the constitution of losses, and then make corresponding reasonable measures to decrease line losses which can improve the economic benefits of power supply corporation. The thesis research the line loss calculation and analysis based on distribution GIS, and develop the line loss calculation and analysis system combined with GIS and line loss management system which have GIS graphics interface.Firstly, the thesis introduces Geodatabase model and the structure of distribution network, describes the network by Geometric Network. Then designs and builds the spatial database of distribution network by applying UML and CASE tools. On the basis, developed topology analysis function of distribution network on ArcEngine, for example, power source finding analysis, transformer substation supplying area, switch simulated operation, listing simulated operation. To the example of listing simulated operation, gave detailed steps and flow of the distribution network topology analysis based on GIS. Combined with traditional calculation methods, for example, root-mean-square and power flow calculation method, gave a new method and flow based GIS topology to calculation line loss. Finally, according to the switch simulated operation and line loss calculation, the dissertation proposed a method to optimize the distribution network structure.
