Automotive industry plays an important role in China. In automotive body manufacture process the cover panel design, the mould design and the manufacture processing occupies 60% of the entire processing of automotive body design and the process, which is the key technology to develop our mould in the industry, especially automotive industry. Reduces this time for a while means speeding up the development of new vehicle type, and the cycle time of product in the market. In the stamping process of automotive body panel, the technical difficulty is the stamping scheme and the mould design. Proper forming scheme and high grade mould, not only can improve the pressing part quality and productivity, also reduces the rate of waste products.With the automotive industry modernization and the computer technology development, the sheet metal forming process computer simulation technology obtains rapidly development and application. The traditional cover and the mould design mainly depends on the experience and test to complete, the criterion to which must achieve goal and must satisfy which in design is quite fuzzy, therefore it is difficult to guarantee the product development cycle and quality, simultaneously also increased the product development cost. The product quality is mainly decided by the upstream design, if the upstream design, in particular technological design had disadvantageous influence to the quality, the latter mould design is very difficult or absolutely can't eliminate this kind of disadvantageous factor. Fortunately, the sheet metal forming process computer simulation technology changes this kind of condition. As an analysis appraisal tool, it can guarantee the stage design reliability for upstream stage technological design.In this paper,stamping peculiarity and requirements of automotive panel are discussed, the automotive panel forming theory and forming ability of sheet metal are studied systematically, base on these, taking Automotive cover panel of rear fender as an example, go on studying basic scheme of automotive panel forming processes,basic technique parameter of drawing process and how to design die face and other required surface. According to these studies, aiming at the limitations of the initial process project, a new one was proposed. And the numerical simulation of its drawing process was studied by using the finite element analysis software DYNAFORM. According to the results, interrelated parameters are optimized to guarantee the new project is reasonable, feasible and economical. The new project greatly raises material usage factor and productivity, reduces the material and the cost of die, shortens the cycle of dies design, and brings great profits for corporation.
