Because of the selection method, the selection results of the current fault feeder selection device are generally not adopted by the technician unless they are confirmed by checking out on the spot. To crack this hard nut, it is crucial for us to record all waves when fault line grounding occurred and then manage and analyze the waves online to make direct judgments and ensure that the grounding line selection is correct.The current installations of fault feeder selection usually use the "SCM + DSP" or "IPC + DSP" dual CPU model to achieve the target. However, SCM management system model is not enough to achieve the above requirements because of its own hardware and software conditions; IPC way, because of its high price and clumsy shape.With the rapid development of embedded technology, it greatly facilitates the detection equipment to the structure of lightweight, superior performance, cheap and simple operation. With the advent of Windows CE embedded operating system, it makes the development of embedded devices simpler. The operation system provides developers with a unified programming interface, multi-tasking capacity and the ability to provide strong graphics capabilities.The work presented in this paper focus on developing an embedded management platform of fault line selection device based on existing fault line selection device. The hardware platform is based on S3C2410 microprocessor and its embedded operation system is Windows CE. The complication and performance of this system represents the high level of modern embedded system.Firstly, the paper describes status quo of fault line selection device and the need to establish embedded management platform. It discusses the overall design of the system based on the system requirement and embedded design mythology and then describes the reason why Windows CE is the suitable option for the system. The ARM series microprocessor and the structure and characteristic of Windows CE are also described. Secondly, the paper introduces the Windows CE and its transplantation, describes the development of BootLoader and OAL based on the architecture of Windows CE. Then, the paper emphasizes on the development of embedded application software, describes the common modules of the software such as communication module, database management module, display of data module. It further discusses the related software development technology such as serial communication, muti-thread and ADOCE database.Lastly, the paper summarizes the development of the embedded system software; the prospect of further research work is also made.
