Railway container transportation, which is also called railway container yard, is a kind of mode of high-efficiency and safety standard transformation, and is the key supporting process to realize logistics system of railway container. After analyzing and evaluating the function and characteristic of railway container transportation management in domestic and aboard, this paper studied systemically handling management in yard, the problem of handling equipment choosing and scheduling, provided the evaluation method for machine choosing and established the schedule mode. Through the study of this paper, a scientific and practical decision-making method was found to improve the efficiency of handling so that the overall operating efficiency of the freight yard could be increased and the whole efficiency for the yard could be optimized.At first this paper analyzed the current state of the domestic and international management of rail container yard, handling machines and its deployment. Its'function and management objective were discussed in the later. Besides, the main job for the management of railway container yard was summarized.Secondly, the main activities of management of rail container yard were studied, which was composed of organization and harmonization for handling, the yard management, the design for handling line and the using for handling machinery. In addition, it established the basic mode for handling management for Railway container transportation.Thirdly, the selection of machine and schedule was studied deeply. The paper used Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation to choose the type of handling machine in order to choose the proper one. At last this paper used the mathematical knowledge, such as Graph Theory, to establish scheduling model of gantry crane handling equipment and gave the optimal results. After comparing with the former schedule it was proved that the used method was correct and scientific.At the end of the paper the current problems in the rail container yard were summarized and the future directions of study in this field are provided.
