ATV as a brand new style of vehicle was always called all-terrain vehicle, which was usually known as the sandy beach vehicle in domestic area, and mainly used in agriculture, military affair, recreation etc. The riding comfort of ATV is one of the most important performances for an ATV. The frame is the core part of ATV and is important for its riding comfort.In this paper, take an ATV frame as the research object, and utilize the method of simulation combining with experiment to analyze ATV in the round. The finite element model of ATV frame was established, which was been validated through the experiment. Carried on the mode analyzed, dynamic response analysis and road test depend on the practical using condition, proposed the way to reduce the vibration of ATV and improve the riding comfort of it through researching, which offered the valuable theoretical foundation to the improvement designing. The main researches are as follows:①Utilizing the two-dimensional graph, adopt the 3D modeling software NX4.0, established the geometry model of ATV frame, then the finite element model of ATV's frame and body were set up with FEA (finite element analysis) pre processing software Hypermesh. By imported the finite element model into the solution software MSC.Nastran,the front six modal parameter was obtained.②Carry out the EMA (experimental modal analysis) of the ATV's frame and ATV's body by made use of LMS modal analysis testing system, and obtained the front six experimental modal parameters. Through compared the results of FEA and EMA, the results showed that the calculated modes were very close to the experimental modes, so the finite element models can be considered correct and accurate. Then analyze the matching analysis between the dynamic characteristic of ATV's body and engine excitation and dynamic characteristic of ATV body.③Utilizing the method from easy to complex model, established the finite element model of whole body of ATV (include ATV body,tyre,human,gasoline tank and suspend) based on the known parameters and structure, and carried out the mode analysis of this model.④Harmonic Response analysis and transient response analysis were implemented based on the finite element model of whole body of ATV, which has been established. Consequently, we can find the frequency that may lead the resonance of whole body and the factors that affect the magnitude of vibration, which offered the valuable theoretical foundation to the improvement designing.⑤Ride comfort of ATV is evaluated through the road test utilizing ride comfort test system of motorcycle.
