Knowledge Engineering and Knowledge Base which were hot and difficult problems had been discussed by many experts and scholars. To solve the problem of tooling design of aircraft composite-structure for aeronautic industry, a knowledge base system for tooling design of aircraft composite-structure was developed by using Oracle 9i database management system and Visual C++. It was based upon a great deal of data and information from the aircraft manufacturing, pre-research, tooling design of aircraft manual in aeronautic industry.Some researches had been done in this paper:Based on the theory of knowledge engineering and with the combination of CAD and knowledge engineering technology, this paper researched on the tooling design knowledge's acquisition, express, searches, revision and storage of aircraft composite-structure. Through classification of tooling design for composite-structure, the fact-based, rule-based, example-based and object-oriented representations were used to represent in a computerized manner the criterions, rules and experiences acquired from our aircraft development work. The establishment method of knowledge base was intensively introduced.Based on the traditional Client/Server model, this paper presented the improvement of Client/Application/Server system architecture and solved key techniques of concurrency control, security mechanism and handling mechanism for large objects on Knowledge Base.The knowledge base manager for tooling design of composite-structure was designed and developed, which based network and had tooling knowledge management, search, knowledge output, user management and other modules.
