Study On The Pavement Performance And Construction Techincs Of Asphalt Treated Base Course

Asphalt treated base (for short ATB),different from semi-rigid base which is often used in our country,belongs to the category of flexible base. ATB has great shearing strength and good capability of fatigue resistance,and can control and reduce reflecting crack. Using ATB is economical and can bring fine Pavement Performanees. ATB is widely used abroad,but seldom used at home. The study on ATB has just started in our country.Based on a large number of domestic and foreign studys coneeming on ATB,the paper proposes several gradations of ATB mixture,and determines the optimum asphalt-aggregate ratio through design void which is complemented with marshall test of 6-inch diameter specimen. It also studys on the pavement performances of ATB mixture,which include mechanical properties,high-temperature stability, low-temperature anti-cracking performance, moisture stability and fatigue resistance, and analyses the effect on it. Finally,the paper studys the construction of ATB integrated with project. And it puts forwards the measures for preventing isolation and ensuring compaction.
