Tunnel lighting, especially highway tunnel lighting, has many different requirements from the ordinary roads. It needs illumination during the daytime, which is more complicate than illumination at night. The expense of tunnel lighting is one of the bigger projects in tunnel management, so how to decease the lighting expense and keep safe traveling became an urgent difficulty which needs to be resolved.The present tunnel lighting control systems usually adopt a method of circuits dividing for power supply, namely adjusting the circuit and illumination according to the exterior circumstance of tunnel. However this system has many disadvantages such as discontinuity of illumination in tunnel additional section and unnecessary waste of energy. Concentrating on such problem, this paper proposes a kind of intelligent tunnel lighting control system base on DeviceNet, which achieves continuous light adjusting and provides for vehicles better illumination circumstance. This system also can save energy, satisfy the safety requirement and decease the cost of tunnel operating.This paper firstly introduces techniques of present tunnel lighting system and its research orientation, then explains the necessity of tunnel lighting via the characteristic of people's vision, analyzes the control methods and related system of tunnel lighting. The paper devises an electronic ballast; conforming to DeviceNet protocol, designs the circuit diagrams and achieves light adjusting to high-pressure sodium lamp. Constructs a three-layer of intelligent tunnel lighting control systems, proposes a new lighting control algorithm based on fuzzy control theory. The luminance of different section of tunnel can be obtained by detectors, then adjust electronic ballast; to make identical luminance of the whole tunnel.
