With the development of highway transportation industry, traffic safety is becoming a severe social problem at present in the world. Because China has a vast territory, the proportion of long-even straight line sections is large. Moreover, according to an investigation, the long-even straight line roads have serious transportation hidden danger, that is prone to happening traffic accident. Therefore, analyzing the reasons of traffic accidents on the long-even straight line roads, and then taking reasonable measures to cut the traffic accidents rate are becoming very important for the transport construction department and traffic management department.From the perspective of person-vehicle-road-environment transportation system, this paper analyzed all the elements including person, vehicle, road and environment of the system, expressed their characteristic and explained elements'influence to traffic safety. Finally, this paper educed the primary reason which caused the high traffic accident rate is the difficulties in adapting the road and the transportation environment for the drivers.Based on the theoretical analysis, this paper took the section of National Highway 213 from Langmusi to Chuanzhusi as an example. Through on-the-spot investigation on the 27.3km long-even straight line road and experiment on drivers'psychological feature, the author analyzed the main reasons which caused the traffic accidents in this kind of road. The primary reasons are that road scenery is monotonous, drivers are easy to weary, and lacking of judgment for speed and so on. Finally, this paper gave some advises to improve traffic safety, including designing path landscape reasonable, installation rumble strips on the road shoulder, spray coating slowdown stripe on the surface and so on.
