Tire dynamic balancing machine is a high technique instrument product used to detect tire imbalances. Its core software integrates several modules such as signal acquisition, digital signal processing, as well as parameter calibration. Based on a strong engineering background, this paper deals with some key techniques of tire inbalance detection. Main contributions of this paper are summarized as follows:1. A method of curve fitting is developed for parameter calibration, in which the abnormal data have little effect on the result of calculation. As a result, the accuracy of tire imbalance detection has been greatly improved.2. By using PowerBuilder, a powerful visual tool suitable for object-oriented programming, the HMI module for tire imbalance calculation and test data collection is designed. It has the striking features such as friendly interface, intuitive and easy to operate.3. Wavelet filtering and a changing rate based denoising method are used in tyre run-out measurement. Experimental results have shown that, the presented method can successfully remove all the signal noise caused by marks and letters on the sidewall while preserving the original tire profile of the tire, so that the runout can be measured easily.Engineering practices have shown that, the work of this paper is very helpful to improve the tyre quality of Chinese manufacturers and reduce our dependence opon foreign techniques.
