With satellite technology maturing, for adapting to the space environment and accomplishing the space task, the technology of the On-Board Computer (OBC) platform has made great achievements in the continuing development. The research of the OBC bus has become an important subject in the field. At home and abroad, the research direction of the OBC bus is developing from traditional to flexible and extensible, for adapting the complex outer space and accomplishing the challenging space task. The PnP technology, which has made great success in civil and commercial computer application field, is more and more used in OBC research field.Based on the traditional bus technology (UART), this research designs an extensible and flexible PnP bus system for an OBC, which platform is MPC8260 and embedded Linux OS. The application of PnP bus can greatly reduce development and design cycles of the satellite systems, and improve small satellite technology development.The research developed a expansion multi-serial interface hardware module from OBC parallel bus, which to achieve the requirements of PnP scalability. The design of the underlying serial bus communication protocol, provide the underlying communication support of PnP technology for traditional serial bus; Transplantation of IEEE1451 standard which will be the protocol stack of PnP bus system. The design of modular multi-level embedded Linux drivers structure, achieve to device dynamic management, and resources dynamic allocation for PnP system. Those all above will be a PnP embedded system platform which expanded to eight serial interfaces and be in line with IEEE1451 standard.Through continuous efforts , the research has achieved considerable progress. The current system has completed the hardware system design, the underlying communication protocol design and verification, the IEEE1451 standard protocol stack model design, the multi-level modular driver model testing. The system has most PnP features and functionality, has engineering value, and has achieved some results. However, there are lots of work to do for further realized, verification.
