The Research On The Historical And Cultural Protection Of The Migrated Towns And Villages In The Wanmipo Reservoir Area, West Hunan

The reservoir area villages and towns conducted a large-scale relocation > since the construction of Wanmipo hydropower stations in western Hunan. In the relocation process, the historical and cultural environment of towns and villages have taken place in a series of changes. How to protect the geographical characteristics and historical cultural heritages of these traditional villages and towns, become an urgent problem. History and culture which embodied the life of an area, are essential of the survival and development of the region. The reservoir area villages and towns have historical and cultural accumulation, its unique natural landscape features, rich historical heritage is full of high historical, artistic and economic value. The restoration of the physical environment in relocation progress is relatively easy,but the transplant of the historical and cultural elements is more difficult.While Wanmipo relocation work has been basically completed, the reservoir area historical and cultural environment has undergone an tremendous change during the relocation progress, and the historical and cultural environment renovation of immigration Village has made certain achievements, of which there are many inadequate. Through surveys, author try to find out the present situation of history and culture in the reservoir area, summed up the existing problems, and discuss how to protect historical cultural heritages, rebuild the geographical characteristics of the reservoir area through the planning and design of new residential, while the process of rapid urbanization is also leading the development of the towns . Paper is divided into four parts:The first part of that introduction - mainly on a study origin, purpose and significance to rearch methods, to define the scope of the study and the key concepts, identified the work framework.The second part of that is analysis of present situation - the impact of historical and cultural factors on the reservoir area and its constitute characteristics. Then base on it, author conducts an overall review of the historical and cultural environment of villages and towns in the reservoir area.The third part that is the researching of the problems -Basing on the investigation, this chapter finds out the existing problems of the protection of present historical and cultural towns and villages, from the two-pronged approach of the elements and non-material elements. The fourth part of the settlement of problems - In accordance with the research on the constructed factors of historical and cultural environment, this chapter conducts specific protective measures to the planning of towns and villages, modalities of the building construction, the usage and discovery of traditional culture, the recovery of village culture and ecology and so on.
