The building thermal insulation coatings can reduce surface and internal surrounding excessive temperature rise of buildings and temperature difference because of environment impact. Wide uses of the building thermal insulation coatings can improve work environments and save energy. Studies and development on the building external wall thermal insulation coatings have profound significance.To the question of the building insulation coatings'application, and the stringent requirements of energy-saving building, study the high performance building external wall thermal insulation coating and transparent thermal insulation coatings as using glass, which can achieve the energy-saving building to develop to the integrated direction.As studying the building thermal insulation coatings, the self-cross linking emulsion is prepared in this paper. We filtrate some better waterborne emulsion and functional materials, add CaCO3 whisker to improve the performance of coatings. The pigment volume concentration (PVC), the face padding, the percentage and type of functional material on the heat-shielding properties were measured and discussed. And also study the influence of PVC, functional material and CaCO3 whisker on the basic principles of thermal insulation coatings. The orthogonal designing was applied to obtain the optimum formula of thermal insulation coatings. As devising the transparent thermal insulation coatings which is use in glass, modified ATO was marked first, and then the influence of temperature on particle size was analyzed, at the last, we study the influence of thermal insulation modified ATO which was made in different calcinations temperature and different dispersant, the content of modified ATO and the thickness of coat.The experimental result showed: the self-cross linking emulsion could improve water-resistant and other performance of coatings; rational select hollow tiny particles and transition metal oxides powder can improve comparatively sound insulating effect and affect the basic performances weakly; the addition of CaCO3 whisker can improve the scrubbing resistance of coatings. Using the improved experiment method, the undersurface temperature would be decrease by 13℃as hollow tiny particles is at the percentage of 30, and transition metal oxides is at the percentage of 4, CaCO3 power is at the percentage of 20 and CaCO3 whisker is at the percentage of 5, and affect the basic performances weakly. PVC affect the heat-insulating performance weakly, but can affect the basic performances of coatings, and 45% is the best; CaCO3 whisker has a certainly influence on thermal insulation performance and some basic performances. It has the best thermal insulation performance when the calcinations temperature is 600℃, using the PEG as dispersant, the content of modified ATO is 3%~4%. The thermal insulation can be advanced with the increase in the thickness of the coat. However, due to the limit of the test conditions and some questions on measuring the thickness, so this experiment could not obtain the quantitative relationship.
