Ship is a huge system, assembled by the millions of components, and ship construction process is a more complicated systematic project. Assembly is an important part during the construction process for assembly sequence has a direct impact on the shipbuilding cycle, assembly quality and construction cost. Therefore it is significant to study the ship assembly sequence optimization for reducing shipbuilding cycle and improving the quality. Based on this consideration, this paper has made a research on the ship assembly sequence optimization of structural components.Firstly, assembly information model structure, which is widely used in the study of assembly sequence optimization, has been analyzed. According to the real ship building process and assembly sequence optimization and evaluation requirements, the paper built the ship assembly information model for ship assembly sequence optimization and evaluation with studying the contents and data form of ship assembly information model. Ship structural components disassembly intervene matrix was also generated based on component intervene conditions.Secondly, in accordance with the analysis of ant colony algorithm, the model was built to optimize the ship structural assembly sequence with improved AOC. And with thought of object-oriented programming application, the optimized ship structural sequence can be generated automatically using C++ programming language.Thirdly, the applicable assessment index system was proposed according to the specialties during ship building process. And the generated assembly sequence was evaluated by the method of Fuzzy evaluation method.Finally, using CATIA, taking a double-deck bottoms bulk carrier subsection as an example, based on the AOC, a reasonable assembly sequence was generated with the ship structural components optimizing programming. Through assessment a better optimized assembly sequence was formed and simulation process was carried out to verify the feasibility of the method proposed in this paper.
