Along with the popularity of CAD in automobile design, application of virtual prototype technology is becoming more important because it integrates many advanced technology and method and benefits to short development circle. So it's a trend in automobile industry. Through using vitual prototype technology, auto product's design level and efficiency can be improved.Here, based on vitual prototype technology, the lifiting mechanism of dump truck is designed using SolidWorks/COSMOS as tool. In the article,firstly, according to the dump truck design requirement, the overall design plan of lifiting mechanism is determined. Then the preliminary connecting parameter is choiced by two-dimensional movement simulation through the top-down design method. Further the dynamic simulation model for the lifting mechanism of dump truck is established and the dynamic simulation is performed based on the dynamic analysis software. Last, by united FEA technology,the part structure of the lifting mechanism has analyzed,structure optimization and lightweight design is realized. In this paper, it makes positive exploration to new design method of lifting mechanism dump truck in the engineering pratice.
