As electric equipments being installed more and more in automobiles, the whole power will grow sharply. The experts estimate that the whole power will achieve 10kW nearly 2010. Such high power couldn't be offered by the existed 14V powernet. A new way, 42V powernet is expected to resolve this question. There are two ways to carry on 42V. One is 42V-only powernet, and another is 42V/14V two voltages powernet. The former will hurt the auto part suppliers much more, but the latter's crush will be much small. So the industry prefers the latter.In the traditional 14V powernet, protection of battery wasn't paid attention on, of cause with power management. As a result, batteries couldn't work for a long time, and the car couldn't be set aside for a long time. And in the 42V/14V double voltage system, new technologies no matter saving fuel devices or consuming fuel devices are assembled in the car. This made the power system much more complicated for the old questions been overlaied with new questions. So this paper wants to excult some initial research on the power management system. I wish it's useful for the deeply research.The main research contents are:Firstly, introduce the main parts which would be used in 42V cars, choose the proper style of them, and analyze each one's influence on the power system.Secondly, according to respective specialities, reassemble the whole power circuits and make it fit for the following requires of power management.Thirdly, the core of power management is called power control ECU which is designed and simulated with Proteus. This ECU control some relays to make the main power circults break or joined according to the battery SOC, engine speed, and ignition switch. The result is to charge battery optimistically, avoid overcharge, protect the battery when low power, and carry on idle stop function.This design increases the information communication between modules, so the whole car can work as one to react fastly. In other aspect, information will be displayed to drivers on time. It is useful for them to master the car's situation...
