The intelligent instrument,as the combination of modern computer technology and instrumentation, plays an inportant role in scientific research, environmental monitoring, manufacturing and other areas. But currently, there also exist some shortcomings such as simple structure, single function, maintenance and upgrade difficult in the intelligent instrument. Therefore, this paper focuses on the deficiencies of intelligent instrument that lack of configurability on the structure and lack of expansibility of function. And the paper proposes a new design idea—embedded intelligent instrument platform. Benefiting from high integration and configurability of embedded system, this design ideal aims at integration, platform and abstracts the general functions of intelligent instrument to the functional module such as data acquisition module, data processing module, data storage module, data exchange module. Through configging the functional modules according to the difference of application and functional requirement, the function of intelligent instrument can be redefined. In this way, an intelligent instrument platform with wide application and high configurability can be made.In the second part of this paper, the hardware and software structure of intelligent instrument platform are described, and the low-level software model is made from the description of operating system kernel and device driver module.The third part of this paper focuses on the driver of device and interface in the intelligent instrument platform. In this part, it is elaberated that the structure and working mechanism of device driver in the main functional modules such as data acquisition module, data processing module, data storage module, data exchange module and human-computer interaction module.The forth part of this paper describes the design and realization of driver for the low-level device and interface such as SPI, LCD, USB and ethernet in the intelligent instrument platform. And this part introduces the modularization design ideal and realization by linux kernel tailoring in low-level device driver development. Besides, the structure and working mechanism of bootloader are described.
