Underwater acoustic transmitter is a very important component of active sonar equipment; at the same time it is the unit which has the largest volume and electric energy use level in the sonar system. The sonar with high-resolution has high working frequency, which make the powerful & high-frequency transmitter carry out with difficulty. Because the transmitter works with high frequency, the switching loss should be minimized in order to fasten the switching frequency and high performance magnetic materials and fast switch components are required. The paper mainly discusses above matters. In the paper, based on switching power amplifier circuit, the development state of MOS power transistor is introduced, the principle and characteristics in static of MOSFET and its process of on & off are analyzed, the design requirements of high-speed MOSFET drive circuit and the measures of reducing MOSFET HF loss are put forward. The principle of high frequency transformer and the factors of affecting its performance are analyzed. Based on all the above, the performance and coil parameters of all kinds of high frequency magnetic core are analyzed. At last, taking transmitting circuit with frequency of 350 kHz for example, the process of designing the parameters of drive circuit and output transformer is put forward. At the end of the paper a high frequency sonar transmitter with the frequency of 2MHz and a transmitter with the frequency of 350 kHz are designed successfully, the experiments validate correctness of the design and the scheduled research target is realized.
