As a substance basic, Floating dock is one of the necessary basically equipments in ship maintenance which is called the moving platform in the sea. For the floating dock, it's necessary to consider if the overall longitudinal and torsion strength accord with the rules in the course of design and inspection. In fact, the evaluation about structural bending and torsion strength is very important because the influence of environment and loading is prodigious in the course of towage. According to the rules of CCS, it is necessary to calculate the overall bending and torsion strength when the floating dock is in the course of towage.As an example, a reconstructive floating dock is studied with the finite element method of the entire dock in this paper for the precise result which need to consider if its bending and torsion strength suffice the rules of ship hull strength in the course of towage. Because this dock will be dragged after reconstruction, this paper calculated and analyzed its strength in detail in view of the actual project, then ascertain a group of parameters and corresponding bending and torsion combined conditions and did the ship hull FEM analysis and strength evaluation according to these conditions., the main contents are as follows:1.Read the drawings and data of the dock, then make reasonable FE models of the whole ship.2.A sub- module of DNV Sesam program, Wasim is applied for the forecast of wave loads, ascertain the parameters of design waves.3.Compared with the result of the linear wave loads calculation method, the result of Wasim is much bigger, so the result of strength analysis lean to safety.4.Get the detailed result of deformation and stress in the hull structure; choose a loading mode which is satisfied by ship hull strength and give advice to the dissatisfied condition when the dock is in the course of towage. The factual result indicates the influence of loading project is prodigious in the course of towage.
