At present,the universal form of economic development in the area of Pearl River Delta city agglomeration is to gather and diffuse along with the traffic arteries in the process of regional economic development. Nevertheless, the traffic function of connect-roads for the long-distance traffic between cities has been difference from the one of highway and streets except freeway, these roads have not the criterion in the process of planning, designing and rebuilding. So that, it is imperative to put forward the traffic space design according to the situation of Pearl River Delta city agglomeration and traffic function needs.This paper researches on the design and use of the connect-roads in Pearl River Delta urban agglomerations to find out the existing problems, and propose practical traffic space design of the urban agglomerations connect-roads for the planning and designing in the future.Firstly, based on the analysis of the connect-roads datum, the author suggested reasonable widths of each essential component of the cross-sections according to the traffic function and criterions of road, brought up standard cross-sections and their characters and adaptabilities of city agglomeration connect-roads.Secondly, the author proposed some general and especial intersections which apply to various city agglomeration connect-roads based on analyzing their traffic characteristics.Finally, this paper brought forward the minimum distance of exit and entrance according to vehicle operation characteristics. Additionally, the paper suggested the rational distance data by adopting the quantitative and qualitative methods to make sure the distance of ordinary exit and entrance of high-speed and long-distance city agglomeration connect-roads.
