Since China's reform and opening up, the continuous increase of domestic consumption level and great potential of household appliances market attract many brands and companies from Europe, America, Japan, Korea, etc. to enjoy the cheap labor and the broad market of China in the form of joint venture, single proprietorship, etc. The profit margin of each stage in the household appliances industry chain is gradually squeezed because of the price war resulted from increasing competition; therefore, how to build core competitiveness of household appliances enterprise is the problem cannot be neglected by each brand at home and abroad. In addition, household appliances are the important symbol of family modernization and always play an important role in daily life, so the rationality of the household appliances design will remarkably affect people's quality of life. Therefore, how to design the more humanized household appliances becomes an important content of household appliances product design.The domestic enterprises adopt multiple developmental patterns to cope with the issue, especially adopting the development pattern of western industrial design. However, the practice shows that blindly copying the western design will make the domestic household appliances design face a vicious circle. Only the design under Chinese traditional culture and background can permeate the design idea of household appliances into all levels of the market, which plays a significant role to solve the current development bottleneck of Chinese household appliances design.Through intensively researching the current situation of domestic household appliances design at present and the current situation of the product semasiology applying in the industrial design, we discover that localization of the design style is the inexorable trend of the development of household appliances design and the semasiology research method based on symbol extraction and reconstitution is the efficient path to realize the localization of the design style of the household appliances. That is, firstly, make clear the product positioning and product concept of the contents like the character roles covering the product context setting, product inherent roles derivativing from the product concept and the product symbol roles through market research. Then restore the product through using context to the original state according to the product inherent roles and the symbol roles and extract the cultural elements relating to the product using context. Implement the extraction and reconstruction according to the commonness of the building, culture, implement finery, etc. relied by those cultural elements. At last, put forward the systems solutions and reappear and reconstruct the local traditional culture elements in the modern through using context of the product to realize localization of the product design style.
