The hybrid ceramic ball bearings have evident predominance and large development foreground comparing to traditional steel bearings, especially in high temperature,high speed fields. It is wrong to copy the steel bearings formula directly for the design of ceramic ball bearings. Accordingly, it is important and urgent to do effective research on the design theory and methods for ceramic ball bearings.Contact analysis, which is the calculation of contact stress and strain, is the basis of hybrid ceramic ball bearings. Nonlinear finite element analysis was proposed in this paper to solve the contact problem for hybrid ceramic ball bearings. Contact function and contact algorithm of ABAQUS finite element method software was introduced in this paper. The differences between ABAQUS/Explicit and ABAQUS/Standard were compared.The software ABAQUS was used to study the hybrid ceramic angular contact ball bearings simplified model in this paper. The load and boundary condition were studied. The FEA results were compared to the results in the theory and the feasibility of this method was analyzed. The relations among the mesh and the contact angle,the contact stress,contact area were analyzed . The results showed they were convergent to the theoretical values when the mesh becoming smaller.The changes of the contact load,contact stress,displacement,contact angle,contact area with different internal structure parameters and axial load were analyzed. It provided the basis for selecting appropriate internal structure parameters and axial load.
