Wind load is an important load of building structures, especially for high-rise buildings. With the development of society, more and more high-rise buildings have appeared. Meanwhile, a lot of dense building complex have brought up. Because of the mutual interference of fluid fields, the wind load applied on the buildings may be significantly different from that on single building, and some corresponding problems may be caused. According to Chinese standard "the Load code for the design of building structures", the shape coefficient should be firstly determined while calculating the wind load. But, for building complex, especially double-tower building, there is no definite value of shape coefficient specified, and the wind tunnel test and magnified coefficients methods are suggested.Comparing with the long preparation cycle and expensive economic cost of wind tunnel test, the numerical wind tunnel method has significant advantages of accuracy, timeliness and economy. In this paper, both methods are adopted to investigate the shape coefficient of the double-tower at Donghua International Plaza and Dongzhimen Interchange Station, and the results of both methods are compared, and the validity of numerical wind tunnel method has been verified. In addition, the global wind environment of Donghua International Plaza has been simulated through the numerical tunnel method.The main research contents are as following:Firstly, the coefficients of the double-tower are investigated through the wind tunnel test, so are the wind loads of 50-year and 100-year design lives. Meanwhile, some design suggestions are proposed.Secondly, the boundary conditions of numerical wind tunnel are obtained, of which the validity is verified.Thirdly, the pressure coefficients and shape coefficients are simulated through numerical wind tunnel method. The results of numerical wind tunnel method agree well with that of the wind tunnel test, therefore the correctness of numerical wind tunnel method is verified.Lastly, some design suggestions are proposed based on the results of wind tunnel test and numerical wind tunnel methods. The research results can provide some important design guiding for the double-tower on Donghua International Plaza, and also provide some reference function for other similar projects.
