Intelligent Transport Systems(ITS) supplies an effective resolution to nowadays traffic problems.This article first analyzes the development and significance of intelligent traffic.Then an intelligent control system for urban traffic signal management is presented,which is based on Embedded Processor Nios on FPGA.Then the parameters and types of traffic signal control are explained,as well as complex phase traffic signal control of single crossing.This article expounds the basic theory of the Fuzzy control and Neural Network,and explains the principium of fuzzy controller.In addition,a method for traffic forecast based on BP Neural Network is presented.Then the hardware scheme of the intelligent urban traffic signal control system is designed.By using SOPC Builder tool,we build and configure Nios core and its peripheral equipments,so the hardcore circuit and relevant software development kit are created.At last,the query table of fuzzy controller is provided and builded by means of MATLAB.And the fuzzy controller is designed and simulated by using VHDL.The model of traffic forecast based on Neural Network is designed and simulated.
