The Impact Of Road Visual Environment On Traffic Safety

With the development of highway, people pay more attention to the traffic safety and driving environment than before. Taking the main visual environment in road territory (including the greening and tunnel portal) as an object, this paper studies the impact of road visual environment on traffic safety.First, this paper divides the illusion into three kinds, which include illusion caused by linear, or environment, or the combined effects of both, and puts forward some countermeasure to reduce road illusion, at the basis of the analysis on illusion's emergence principle. Then, the author investigates the public about their visual focus, and proposes greening design method which is safe for diver, as well as greening evaluating indicator and assessment method; Finally, adopting psychological evaluation methods and on-site measurement, the author analyzes the impact of tunnel portal brightness contrast on the driving security and comfort, and proposes landscape building ideas of tunnel portal. After the research on the illusion, greening as well as the tunnel portal landscape, this paper summarizes the building method of road visual environment based on the traffic security. The outcome has been proved to be applicable and reliable through the example of Peng Wu Highway.By using the technical route which combined with learn from other's experience and innovation, this paper goes deep into the relation between visual environment and safety, and then summarizes landscape building method based on the safety. It can provide a reference for highway construction.
