Studies On Schools' Safety In The Earthquake

Seismic hazard is one of the natural calamities which have the most important influence to the development of society,which has features such as strong burstiness, small duration and severely damage.Every greater earthquake in history resulted in collapse of school buildings,which threatened the whole school's lives and property. School students are the most valuable and most vulnerable groups in our society,so reducing the collapse of school buildings and protect the students'lives when strong earthquakes happen is obligatory responsibility.Besides,when natural calamities happen,school buildings can be regarded as sanctuary which would provide temporary live for local inhabitant.The author seeks reducing the vulnerability and guaranteeing the safety of school buildings as the core in this thesis.First of all,the author investigated the destructional forms of school buildings when suffered earthquake and analyzed the causation of destructions,summarizing that the collapse of school buildings could be ascribed two aspects bellow:one is the natural seism,buildings are difficult to bear the destructive power which super seism caused;the other is human being,related people did not carry out rules and regulations about school buildings severely,including planning and design, quality control in construction,construction quality supervising and maintenance of the finished buildings,etc.The seismic damage to school buildings in Xi'an after WenChuan Earthquake was deeply investigated.Secondly,the thesis systematically research two issues,namely how to promise new school buildings safe enough and improve the security of existent school buildings.Toward new buildings,scientific address and reasonable planning are necessary,besides,in order to guarantee the quality of new construction,we should sternly execute the capital construction procedure and mandatory standard,the procedure of submitting reports for approval should be carried out according to the prescriptive capital construction procedure.Toward existent school buildings,we need to evaluate their risk ranking,carry out secure authentication and detection and reinforce the schoolhouse according to test dimension,however,we must take measures in time to save buildings from danger,farthest decreasing the collapse of school buildings,loss of life,personal injury and property loss.
