The steel reinforced concrete-reinforced concrete(SRC-RC) vertical hybrid structure has a lot of good properties, therefore has been widely used in the modern high-rise buildings.Compared with traditional structure forms such as SRC structure and steel structure, this kind of new hybrid structure can effectively reduce the cost of construction, and has good seismic behaviors. The experimental study is carried out through one high strength RC column and eight SRC-RC transfer columns with the span ratio of 2.5 and the axial compressive ratio of 0.2 and 0.4 subjected to low cyclic reversed lateral loads. The major factor,i.e., the added embedded different shape steel, affecting the seismic behavior and bearing capacity of SRC-RC transfer columns,is taken into consideration. In this paper, the analysis of the hysteretic behavior, skeleton curve, ductility, strength decrease, cracking load, bearing capacity and restoring force model are discussed. In the end,by considering the economical efficiency and execution conditions in terms of experimental results and theoretical analysis, the practical design method is proposed depending on the high bearing capacity and proper displacement ductility, which can be applied to the non-linear seismic analyses and design of SRC-RC transfer column.
