In order to suit the development of modern machine-building industry,improve the bearings'working performance and prolong its life span,the optimal design achieved by changing the hydrodynamic characteristics of the lubricant,as well as the floating-ring bearings have been introduced.However,those works made the shape and structure of plain bearings growing complexity.The bearings'structure and shape affect greatly on the research of the dynamic pressures'characteristics of film by conventional methods.Thus, it is difficult for effective research of the multi-leaf and complicated bearing.Therefore,a convenient and effective way is needed to improve the capability of analysis for complex shapes of bearings.Boundary element method is a method of numerical solution,which transforms control differential equations into integral equation on the boundary.It has the characteristics of dimension,calculating fast,high precision and giving the inter solution easily.It is especially suit for solve the complex boundary problem and an advanced method to analyze the hydrodynamic characteristics of sliding bearing.In this paper,the boundary element method suitable for n-leaves complicated shape of floating-ring bearing has been given and developed a computer program.In the case of eccentricity,the numerical simulation of the dynamic pressure film characteristics of six-leaf columniform floating-ring bearing,six-leaf dislocated floating-ring bearing and olivary floating-ring bearing have been done.Figure of flow field of lubricant,pressure visual picture,comparison of pressure curve are obtained.Then we compared the stability of three bearings,analyze the inner friction of bearings when it has or has not floating-rings.It provides a lot of data,figures,curves and theoretic reference for the design of sliding bearing.The result shows that the boundary element method is an effective tool to analyze the multi-leaf complicated shape floating-ring bearing fluid dynamics characteristics,the numerical technique will further promote the design of lubricated bearing technology.
