The Research Of Spanish Garden Style And Its Applications In The Residential Landscap Design

In recent years,with the rapid development of the housing market,more and more people are considering the importance of the residential landscape design.The landscape design in the western world has under gone long term development,which is worthy of being studied and better understood.As a leading western landscaping design,the Spanish landscape has a unique place in the western world.It has been a significant issue being studied by Chinese landscapists.A detailed case analysis of the research on landscape design and the elements of the Spanish landscape design are discussed.We apply this case study into the design of regions south of the Yangtze River "Granvia".The purpose of the analysis is to find the theoretical idea of the Spanish landscaping,whilst applying it to the south of the Yangtze River area project.Results of the research are as follows:Firstly,analysis was conducted on the cultural background of the Spanish landscaping which analysed different characteristics of the landscaping from different periods of history.The country,Spain,is located in the lower southern part of Europe and has a very long history of civilisation.It was the meeting place of traditional European and Arabic cultures.During the long period of the history,Spanish landscaping has involved Roman,Islamic,and Catholic culture in the renaissance period.The influence of different cultures has provided the Spanish Landscape with its unique,mystical and eastern elements.Second,study the different landscaping elements of Spanish gardens.①There are variety of changes in Spanish Garden space,hidden,private and independent areas is one of the main characteristics of Spanish Landscape.②Different bodies of water remain an important decorative feature in the Spanish Garden.It symbolises a typical heaven of paradise from the Islamic culture.③Colour ceramics and mosaics are widely applied in the garden.⑤Numerous amounts of plants decorate the garden which emphasis volume,and layers of space.These provide a geometric and symmetric affect in appearance.All these elements of landscaping express special characteristics of Spanish garden.Thirdly,a case study of "Granvia" residential landscape.Based on the background of Spanish culture and landscaping,we used this case study in application to the actual landscape design project,We compared different view points of the project to the Spanish design in landscaping based on regions south of the Yangtze River geographical conditions.We were able to create a new and innovative design using the Spanish landscaping in order to build a unique housing environment.As a result we have established the following theoretical conclusions.①The focus was on utilising different elements of Spanish landscaping in order to recreate a Spanish landscape in a modern living environment.②Following the spiritual characters,and the cultural background of Spanish landscaping,we looked at sustaining the availability of the geographical conditions of south of the Yangtze River area.We tried to improve the development by using foreign techniques.③Combining both typical traditional landscaping and modern designs using plants,mosaics and decorations allowed us to create a balanced living environment between creativity design and function.
