The development of landscape design speeds up with the acceleration of integration process of the global economy. However, against the background of the age of globalization, the gradual emergence of landscape design has the phenomenon of "convergence" gradually. Many medium-sized and small cities in North China ignore the attribute of regional character during the process of landscape design,and simply copy the outstanding landscape works and style of developed countries and cities. It results in the loss of regional characteristics and souls of landscae design. Urban waterfront is often the best place of the history and culture in a city,and is the best district to show cityscape.Therefore,selecting the regional character of waterfront landscape design of medium-sized and small cities in North China studies as a research object of this article is representative and meaningful.
