Small And Medium-sized Cities Into Urban Image Design System

As the important symbol of social civilization, urbanization and internationalization brings human life earth-shaking changes. But with the continuing in-depth of international exchange, the rapid expansion and intensified competition of cities brings great challenge to cities' sustainable development. As a result, many cities start to explore their own characteristics, as well as look for a suitable way to develop with. The City Identity System theory, which bases on the theory of Corporate Identity System and through practice and theory test, provides an important solution for city's sustainable development. Based on the core goal of city's development and comprehensive grasp between its own characteristics and environment, it devotes to reduce blindness and helps to set up a unique developing philosophy in the process. To develop healthy and orderly, it explores ways to meet its own development and remodel the spirit and confidence.In recent years, various cities in China set out on the research and implementation of City Identity System, and achieve a certain degree of success such as Hong Kong, Chongqing, Zhangjiagang and Tongli etc. However, the research and practice are individual because of their auspices of metropolis, boom city or even ancient town, while practice and theory on the large number of small and medium-sized cities still needs in-depth study. This paper begins with the special policy background that surrounding the small and medium-sized cities in Anhui Province, and combines CIS theory and practical cases with comprehensive analysis of the existing state of small and medium-sized cities' image, to demonstrate the essentiality and feasibility of small and medium-sized cities' CIS, to suggest CIS's method and principal; as well as conduct CIS into specific cities and explore CIS's practical application value.
