Asphalt material as a typical viscoelastic material,with the temperature sensitivity , in the heavy traffic and high temperature environment conditions, the emergence of a serious early damage, directly affecting the way the use of performance, the lack of high temperature stability which is one of the main reasons of road destruction. Therefore, it is necessary to have a high resistance stability, antifatigue of high modulus asphalt and asphalt mixtures for research.At present, China asphalt design specification of high modulus asphalt concrete system no regulatory requirements, the main reference of this study design specifica- tions asphalt France (1992, France has been made with adequate experience and circumstances, developed a standard (NF P98 140), formally established penetration of the asphalt produced 15 high modulus asphalt concrete norms) of high modulus request formulated and research, and through with the preparation of high modulus asphalt and base asphalt and SBS modified asphalt were compared to reflect the high modulus of asphalt superiority.In this paper, starting from the choice of materials, through the development of polymer modified to a new type of road material, that is, high modulus of modified asphalt (referred to as HM), its principal include the following three areas: (1) Modified Asphalt Preparation, in understanding the nature of various kinds of modifier and use the basis, combined with asphalt to increase consistency requirements, drawn up SBS, PE, rock asphalt, lake asphalt modifier of four to prepare high modulus of modified asphalt. Through orthogonal design and range analysis, obtained the influence law of of each factor mixing amount to the various performance of base asphalt, determined the best combination of the various factores, and evaluated the performance of different asphalt in use of SHRP Test. (2) mix design, given high stability against resistance and anti-fatigue characteristics of papers , we selected AC-20C coarse aggregate gradation, determined the best optimal asphalt content of different asphalt mixture by testing the volume index of marshal test piece. And testing mixture of asphalt modulus. (3) the mixture performance tests, including rutting test, bending test at low temperature, the water stability, and the fatigue property test.The results showed that high modulus modified asphalt has a better road performance than both SBS modified asphalt and base asphalt, Through this study can be achieved on the high modulus and modified asphalt mixtures have a full understanding and for the high modulus of the popularization and application of modified asphalt to provide test basis, as well as high-grade highway asphalt pavement construction project to provide a new ideas and solutions to the problem.
