Design And Implementation Of Meter Concentrator For Automatic Meter Reading System

As a national crucial industries, electric power has been developing steadily. In recent years, with the continuous improvement of the national economy, the domestic power industry has been unprecedentedly developed, the demand for power resources is in rapid growth. With the rapid development in the power business, demand for the automatic control technology is also growing. The facilities of electrical power system were mostly scattered in a specific geographical scope, and this has brought a lot of difficulties in equipment management. The electricity department face a difficult problem that how to settle purchase sales, system loss and other issues. In order to provide userful data to the decision-maker, the usage of computer technology to achieve automation of informationization is imperative. In view of the fact of national conditions, the charging method of the IC card and automatic meter reading is difficult to implement in the backward areas, meter reading is completed in door-to-door mode in most area.This paper design a remote meter concentrator which is applicable in remote meter reading system .The system takes a ARM chip as CPU because of its low-power and high-performance, as the same time it has a lot of communication module , it can do a good job to complete the meter reading.The system takes the popular emmbed Linux as the operating system. We can compile the system with the needs.Based on the analysis of the working principle and function of metering concentrator , we decide the design proposal of hardware and software.Nextly, based on the architecture , we carry on the detailed design of hardware and software. In hardware design, the 485 serial, GPRS communication module, Ethernet module, LCD display module are realized according to the structure division. In order to enable the normal operation of the hardware, the bootloader and system migration is necessary. The next work is the development the hardware drivers.At last, according to a idiographic metering concentrator rules, we realize the upper application program.The system completes the desired funcion by test.This system fused the computer technology, the automated technology as well as the microelectronic technology, involves broad knowledge, and takes a difficulty technology. the electric instrument concentrator studied in this paper is an embedded product, makeing the appropriate improvement, it can be applicable for the water meter, gas meter data collection, it has a good application prospect.
