With the development of science and technology, especially the development and maturity of power electronics technology, electronic technology, information technology and wireless network technology, the power industry is also gradually experiencing the convenience brought about by scientific and technological progress. The meter reading industry has gone through several stages of development, from the traditional manual meter reading development to the pre-paid systems, and remote automatic meter reading system. Now, in our country, remote automatic meter reading technology is a popular research direction, it can provide convenient information on users'demand for electricity faster and better. Nowadays,there are some ways of remote automatic meter reading technology, such as using power line carrier communication, telephone line network communications, a fiber optic communications, RS-485communications. But they all have a certain degree of technical shortcomings. The main content of the paper is about how to integrate the wireless transmission technology into the remote automatic meter reading system. so this paper has completed the following tasks:1. Make a brief introduction and description about several domestic and foreign use of automatic meter reading system. Then, it proposes the solutions about their system reliability, compatibility, communication channel, and so on.2. Research into the related technologies of remote meter reading system. Briefly introduce the GPRS-based wireless transmission technology. Then make a detailed description of the structure and working principle of the remote meter reading system, compare several means in the remote meter reading system, and study the feasibility of wireless network GPRS meter.3. Mainly make a corresponding design on the concentrator to the GPRS wireless transmission of remote meter reading system. In the hardware design, select the microcontroller as the core component of the intelligent system. And explicitly describe the data migration software design. Besides, introduce how to achieve the data software terminal, the control of the central node and the sensor node by software communication. At last, test the entire system. The research into the power of remote automatic meter reading system has great significance. At present, for urban electric energy, there are various degrees of difficulty in the electricity meter reading industry, such as the wiring construction and cost control of the electrical energy acquisition, and there is not a unified communication network model or standards. These above have troubled the power management utility. This paper presents a remote automatic meter reading system, which is based on Internet-communication channels and the GPRS wireless transmission network.
