With the development of economy and the improvement of people's living standards, more and more domestic meters, are widely used in daily life. At the same time, reading the meters and charging the bill is a big social problem in the city life, the manual meter reading has become a mass and troublesome work. There is also a lot problems in the manual meter reading, such as the data may be missed copying, mistakenly copied etc. Traditional ways no longer adapt to the development of society any more. People pay more and more attention to the technology development and application in public utility charges automation and district intelligent management. Power enterprises also hope that the development of new technology will solve their problems encountered in the actual meter reading, such as, security issues, difficult to read and charge, accuracy, reliability etc. to improve the efficiency of public utilities sector and their management level. The new technology will also give consumers a lot convenience.In recent years, modern electronic technology, communications and computer technology developed rapidly , and the further integration of the two and more kinds of technologies have been evolved into many new forms of communication and communication systems ,which make it possible to realize for the automatic meter reading system. It is impossible to satisfy the field request if we only use one communication mode .Because of the very complex AMR system, which has different levels and has different modes of communication at different levels, and we can find an appropriate communication mode by integrating different communication methods and learn from their advantages, so the communication mode is the key to the AMR system. In consideration of the existing management system and information resources of electricity supply companies in China, also for the benefit of future reform and development. This dissertation carried out a comprehensive analysis and comparison of the data communication at home and abroad, particularly introduced GSM, spread spectrum carrier, and optical fiber communication. Based on the principle of using mature technologies and products to lower costs and risks, In order to meet the metric requirements of electric system in the actual circumstance of different clients, an integrated communication scheme is designed on the base of the need of the field and the computation technique. This dissertation presents an integrated communication scheme of GSM-based technology and Bluetooth wireless communications for remote transmission of data, in order to realize the real "long-distance" meter-reading function. The main contents of the thesis are as follows:1. Carefully researched the typical Automatic meter reading system, analyzed the different data transmission methods on the different levels and their respective advantages and disadvantages.2. Summarized the development history of automatic meter-reading technology and its development status quo. Based on the analysis of the structure of our power system and the customer's consuming situation. Studied the feasibility and advantage of various communication programs. Finally, put forward an integrated communication scheme of GSM-based technology and Bluetooth wireless communications for remote automatic meter reading system.3. Designed the system and the ARM7-based embedded real-time hardware platform--the collector hardware circuit, included the interface circuit and peripheral circuit.4. Completed the software platform, including coding the startup code and porting the embedded OSμC/OS-II to the Hardware platform.5. Designed the AMR communication program under the embedded OS --μC/OS-II.As a solution to the inconvenience of manual meter reading and the power system information management level, the research of Automatic meter reading system and its application are of great practical significance.
