On The Layout Design Of The Neighborhood Center In Suzhou Industrial Park

Based on the concept of"neighborhood center", this thesis makes a tentative analysis of the advanced level of and the latest development in the layout design of the"Neighborhood Center Community", both theoretically and practically, and focuses on the experience as regards the layout design and the construction of the neighborhood center in Suzhou Industrial Park. And the conclusion is drawn that the development and the application of the"neighborhood center"plays a significant role in the urbanization drive of the industrial park.The paper, starting with the origin of the"neighborhood center"theory, elaborates on its application in the case of Suzhou Industrial Park and points out its significance through a chronological and synthetic comparison, investigation and demonstration of the"Singapore pattern". Then the paper devotes its trunk to the case study of the"neighborhood center"pattern in the Suzhou Industrial Park and comes to the conclusion that the construction of the ideal"neighborhood center"pattern points to huge potential in meeting the physical and cultural needs of the people and achieving a comprehensive and sustainable development in terms of society, economy and environment. And this is done through the in-depth and comparative study of the public facilities and environmental installations in terms of both their function and aesthetic effect.In the final part it is proposed that there exist certain flaws in the present design of the"neighborhood center"in Suzhou Industrial Park in that it fails to bring out the fine cultural tradition in Suzhou City.Armed with the in-depth investigation and the thorough analysis, this paper aims to provide food for thought for the new theoretical and practical development in the urban community planning, not only in Suzhou but also in China.
